Important Info: Understanding CD Scratches
Many people assume CDs read from the shiny, silver side – but in reality, CDs store data just beneath the label side. If the printed side of your CD is scratched, that data is likely permanently damaged and cannot be fixed, even with resurfacing. However, scratches on the underside (read side) are usually repairable.
