How long do media transfers take?

To transfer your DVDs and CDs we use a software to extract the data that’s stored on there. This can take a few minutes, a few hours or even a few days depending on the condition of the DVDs/CDs and how many different softwares we need to use to extract the data.

Sometimes we need to play the DVD through in real time – so if it’s a 1-hour DVD it will take 1-hour to transfer.

Once we’ve transferred the DVD/CD we then need to copy the files onto to your USB/hard drive/DVD, depending on the size of the file this can take a little while. Generally we’d allow for a few days to complete an order of multiple tape transfers.

Is there are bulk discount for large orders?

Unfortunately we don’t offer a discount for large orders.

What happens if the DVD or CD is too scratched to play?

We’ll make every effort to transfer all of your DVDs and CDs – we have some great software that helps us retrieve the information from a DVD or CD even when it won’t play but sometimes DVDs/CDs are too scratched or damaged and unfortunately they can’t be transferred. We only charge for DVDs/CDs that are successfully transferred.

What size USB do I need to put my DVDs/CDs onto?

Great questions – As a rule-of-thumb, most DVDs hold just under 5GB of data.

It’s important to keep in mind that the actual storage space on a USB or hard drive is usually around 80%, as a rule of thumb, of what was advertised. That means if you have an 8GB USB you may only be able to fit 7GB of data on there.
