Live Events
Known Risks & What Can Go Wrong
Every live event is unique. Weather, venue conditions, noise, crowds, and unexpected moments are part of the live experience — for better and sometimes for worse.
❌Equipment
Cameras, computers, cables, and microphones can fail at any point. Even brand-new, well-maintained equipment can malfunction unexpectedly during a live event.
❌Connectivity
Internet outages, Wi-Fi drops, cellular dead zones, and platform-side issues (YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, etc.) can interrupt or completely halt a stream — sometimes without warning.
❌Platform
Streaming platforms experience outages, server errors, and encoding failures on their end. These are entirely outside our control and may result in a stream ending mid-event.
❌Audio
Audio interference, feedback loops, ambient noise from the venue or environment, and microphone failures can affect stream quality or render audio unusable.
❌Power
Power outages, blown fuses, and venue electrical issues can immediately end a stream. Backup power options exist but are not always feasible or guaranteed.
❌Software
Streaming software (OBS, vMix, Streamlabs, etc.) can crash, freeze, or produce encoding errors. Operating system updates and driver conflicts can cause unexpected failures.
✅Pre-event testing
We test all equipment, connections, and software configurations before every event. Stream tests are conducted whenever possible.
✅Bonded internet
We use multiple internet providers, such as Telstra, Optus and Starlink, at the same time. This means during the stream we can harness whatever internet provided is working the best to reduce the risk of a single connection failure.
✅Live streaming friendly software
We use software such as vMix and Speedify, which is designed for live streaming. If the internet goes down for a moment, the software will step in and buffer the stream until the connection comes back up.
✅Backup equipment
Key items like camera, cables, and microphones are often carried as backups. We are equipped to swap out hardware quickly.
✅Real-time monitoring
Streams are monitored throughout the event. If an issue occurs, we act immediately to resolve or restart the stream.
✅Everything is recorded
If something goes wrong, we’ll keep recording – everything will be preserved to upload after the event finishes.
